Alexa Site Finder is a search engine type, one of which is designed to find sites on topics that not only the pages that are always associated with the site. Normally when we search for something online, we went to our favorite search engine (or search box on our browser), type a few words, then press return. What we get is a list of pages related to the word through various algorithms and grouped by the kind of measure of relevance.
Often that's what we want, the page that answers a specific question that we expect.
Sometimes we are more interested to find entire websites devoted to a topic. We are more interested in the discovery rather than answers to specific questions. For example, pages that are considered relevant to the generic keywords such as "carpentry" or "insurance" which is different from sites dedicated to them, and using a simple keyword search can be difficult to find websites about the topic because they are hidden among the sea of the page website.
On Alexa Site Finder we can type "insurance" into the search box and press Go we will find a list of web sites about insurance. Site Finder returns also the Alexa Traffic Rank for a site, along with a description and keywords are popular searches driving traffic to the site.
Alexa Traffic Rank is a measure of popularity, and the lower the rank, the more people visit and use the site (Google is ranked 1).
Alexa Site Finder also allows us to filter search results with some filtering options such as the Country, Language, Category, Alexa Traffic Rank, and Adult Content. For example, we can refine our search results to include the site without the sites that contain adult content and with most users of Indonesia. Or we can limit the search to sites with a rating of less than 100,000 just to identify popular site.
